Sexual misconduct is a broad term that includes sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. It covers unwelcome verbal, nonverbal, or physical behaviors that can occur on or off-campus and may involve students, staff, or outside individuals.
Examples include:
- Sexual jokes, comments, or innuendos
- Retaliation for refusing a date or sexual advance
- Stalking or relationship violence
- Rape or sexual assault
- Unwanted hugging, touching, or pressure for sexual activity
- Sexual content in emails or texts
- Comments about a person’s body, gender, or sexual relationships
